Ahhh, Vacation Rocks

I love going on vacation. It's always stressful leading up to it, wrapping up all the loose ends before leaving, but once I leave I let everything go. We've gone down to FT Myers, FL a few times, but everytime it gets better. Maybe I'm just getting older and appreciating the peace, quite and space. Either way this was a great vacation. I love the bird life, the warm gulf, and the fact that I have the beach to myself. Below are some pictures of our beach walk from the condo to "downtown" Fort Myers Beach, which our friends affectionately call the Bhutan Death March.

Ahhh Kiawah

I love vacation. Especially when I come back to work feeling totally recovered. That's what Kiawah did for me. I had sun, beach, amazing southern food, family and close encounters with wild animals (there were 2 gators living in the river behind our house!).

Terrigal

Located about 1 1/2 hours north of sydney is the town of Terrigal. A low key beach town where many sydneyer's have cottages. It was a great getaway weekend from the city. Beaches were less dense and fresh seafood served by the waterside was quite reasonable.
"Onda" Ristorante Italiano along the water (150 Terrigal Drive) offered a great lunch special with 2 courses and a glass of wine for $40 dollars. For the Primi, I had the Rosemary beef skewers with rocket, Pukara estate olive dressing & parmesan. And for the Secondi, I had the Char grilled line caught swordfish with pearl bocconcini, vine ripened tomatoes, asparagus & lemon dressing
Both were very good.
For more information go to http://www.onda.com.au/
Oskar and I had wanted to do the lunch special at their other restaurant"The Cowrie"(109 Scenic Hwy), but they were fully booked... So I would suggest making a reservation. Their website is http://www.thecowrie.com.au/
Pictured below is one of our meals from a casual seaside restaurant. Grilled seafood platter with salad and local oysters.

Made it safetly to Palma, Mallorca.

I made it safetly to Palma Mallorca. I'm still alittle jetlagged, but other than that things are going well. I put away my clothes and set up my art work area. Already I've made 4 pieces, all smaller than usual. Its nice to change up the scale in which i work. I also got an email back from a store/gallery in Toronto that I'm going to have a show at in july, so i'm excited about that. I think that's made me get refocused on the artwork making.
Tomorrow I'll get to take a day trip to a different part of the island, probably up in the mountains. My boyfriend and I have an old transporter vw that we'll be using while over here. It's good to get from point a to b, but not very good at accelerating up the mountains. We'll be here for the next 6 weeks. The island is beautiful. We are staying in S'arenal at La Playa Palma. The earth is very dry and sand-like. Lots of cactuses and some how flowers manage to grow here.
Nothing really stands out quite like argentina yet. The produce is alright, nothing special, and i have yet to taste the cafe since I quit drinking it:(
Also the town that we are in is the German equivalent to Cancun for Americans. Its not quite the season yet, but there are almost as many germans as spaniards. yikes. Everywhere there is uber-this or beergarten- that. So this should be interesting...
